Election Commission Meeting — Friday, June 26

A meeting of the Election Commissioners for the Home Rule Incorporation Election will be held Friday, June 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Niwot Hall.

The Commissioners will discuss the Charter Commission process and the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Boulder County Clerk. This meeting is open to anyone interested in viewing the process — it is a public meeting for observation only.

District Court Orders Incorporation Election for November 3, 2026

The Boulder County District Court (Case No. 2026CV30306) found that the Niwot incorporation petition meets all requirements of Colorado law and ordered an election on the state general election date, November 3, 2026. The court appointed six Niwot residents as election commissioners: Lois Adamson, Vicky Dorvee, Susan Fischer, Paula Hemenway, Robert Olsen, and Amanda Walker.

The order confirms a territory of approximately 1,857.789 acres (2.903 square miles), about 4,306 inhabitants, and about 3,643 registered electors — well above the statutory thresholds for incorporation. Voters will decide both incorporation and the election of nine charter commissioners at the same election.
